About our Alpaca Farm
First of all, thank you for taking the time to visit our farm page, and we hope to meet you in person one day!
We are Craig and Debra Rau. We first bought alpacas 6 years ago, with no prior farm experience. We took time to learn how to trim nails, give monthly worming shots and shear the fleece. Alpacas are hearty animals that don't pose many health issues. They were easy to learn how to care for. We can pass our knowledge on to you if you would like to own some of these curious, funny animals. With most of the alpacas, it takes a little time to gain their trust. Once you understand the animals and their personalities, working with them gets easier. We would be happy to introduce ours to you.
Our farm is located only 4 miles from the beautiful bluffs of the Mississippi River. The hills of our pastures build strong alpacas, and is great exercise for expectant alpaca moms. Our alpacas have been BVD tested, and are up to date on immunizations. We regularly have fecal samples tested to monitor herd health.
Our goal is to improve fleece characteristics with each generation, without sacrificing improved conformation. Good conformation supports good health. We feel it is important to empasize health before fluff. But speaking of fluff, we do have some beautiful fleece for sale. If you'd like us to send you a sample, contact us. We have rugs and table runners for sale made with our fleece.
