About our Alpaca Farm

PALOMINO ALPACA FARM, INC. is a small farm located on 10 acres of gentle rolling pastures and wood lands nestled between country homes and manufacturing, and safely enclosed within it's protective boundaries. An ideal area to pasture small herds of dams with their young crias without concern for preditators. With good management practices we estimate that 25 to 30 animals will be the maximum number the farm will support. Our choice to specialize with white Huacaya alpaca's, stems from mostly personal preference, however white fleece can be extremely fine and soft, easily dyed, and is highly marketable in the garmet industry. These choices have culmanated into a selective breeding program with the highest quality bloodlines affordable. This means that each breeding is matched to improve upon the qualities of the previous generation, therefore genetically improving the fleece as well as the physical characteristics of each new generation. The farm currently has 15 alpacas, 8 are the results of the current breeding program, and are highlighted in the alpaca pages.

In December 2008 Susan and I made the decision to become alpaca owners, our initial breeding stock purchase was from Atlantic Breeze Alpacas, beginning with "Sunset Breeze" sired by "My Peruvian Accoyo Pulitzer", and "Curb Appeal At The Breeze" sired by "6Peruvian Accoyo Titan 5055", both sires owned by Magical Farms of Litchfield, OH. In 2009, we formed a corporation and purchased two more huacaya bred maidens," My Peruvian Elayia" and "Queen Ann's Lace"both from the Snowmass Millenium bloodlines. In 2010 we added "Calm Waters" the fifth foundation female from Magical Farms, a bred huacaya maiden from the highly decorated "Snowmass Millenium" line, bringing fleece density and magnificent confirmation from the "Hemingway" and "Legacy" bloodlines.

The males include two year old "Dalton's Sunshine Of The PAFI whose grand sire is "PPPeruvian Mister President 6006". Sunshines fleece yield was 11 lbs of beautiful, bundled fleece at this years shearing, and earning a 2nd place in the 2011 FABO spin off.

Palomino's Effortless is a 22 month decendant of "My Peruvian Obsession" and Grand Sire PPPeruvian Dracula 6016". Dam is"My Peruvian Elayia" from the Snowmass Millenium line. Effortless has very fine fleece with good staple length earning a fifth place in the yearling halter class at the 2011 CABO Celebration.

Palomino's Samson is 11 months old, and has his fleece texture, length, and bundling will make him a strong contender at the CABO Celebration in 2012. Samson is sired by My Peruvian Journey of the Breeze, also a decendent from the Snowmass Millenium line.

Palomino's Prince Albert is 5 months sired by Atlantic Breeze Impact and Dam is My Peruvian Queen Ann's Lace, sired by Snowmass Millenium. The prince has very fine textured fleece with advanced crimp design, and is sure to be in the running at next years celebration.
